A diamond’s grading report is like its passport: it confirms what the stone is and describes its quality.
Every diamond piece over £500 can come with a free independent WGI grading report. Just ask when you order. For other pieces, a report is available for £25. It doesn’t delay delivery.
What Is a Grading Report?
A grading report (often called a diamond certificate) is issued by an independent gemmological laboratory. It sets out the diamond’s key characteristics:
- Carat weight
- Colour grade
- Clarity grade
- Cut grade (for round diamonds)
- Measurements and proportions
- Fluorescence
- Polish and symmetry
- Origin: natural or lab-grown
Each report has a unique number and often a diagram showing the diamond’s inclusions.

The Main Grading Labs
GIA (Gemological Institute of America)
- Widely regarded as the industry benchmark
- Known for strict grading
- Independent and non-profit
IGI (International Gemological Institute)
- One of the world’s largest grading laboratories
- One of the most widely used labs for lab-grown diamonds
WGI (World Gemological Institute)
- Widely used by jewellers for finished jewellery
- Issues digital and printed reports
- The lab we use for reports on request
What to Look For on a Report
- The report number
- Stone weight and measurements that match your diamond
- Clarity, colour and cut grades
- The lab that issued it (e.g. GIA, IGI, WGI)
- Laser inscription, if there is one
